Corporate Partnerships Manager
Q: Why did you decide to come to Starlight?
Having previously worked at de Bono Institute for ten years in brand marketing and corporate partnerships for Australia and New Zealand, I wanted to move to another role where I could use my skills as well as contribute to the community.
The role at Starlight offered a great fit with my skills as it enabled me to facilitate and nurture corporate partnerships. The important thing was that these partnerships would directly benefit children in need. Starlight’s values are also similar to those of my previous employment and this too was a deciding factor.
Q: Why do you like working at Starlight?
Day to day, working at Starlight is fulfilling as we have a great team! It’s good to know that when I come to work there’s a strong team spirit and help is available if it’s needed. Of course, a benefit of working at Starlight as part of the Partnerships Team is knowing that our work directly impacts on the success of our programs and helps the children.
Q: What are your goals at Starlight?
My goal at Starlight is to be the best that I can, to contribute meaningfully to the partnerships team and through this help Starlight reach three out of three seriously ill and hospitalised children by 2010.
Q: What's the most rewarding part of your role?
Meeting the Starlight kids and families at the many events that our fabulous corporate partners support. I love to hear their stories and to see the smiles on the children’s faces. Also, by having our partners volunteer at these events they immediately see just how much they contribute and make a difference.
Q: What has been the most amazing experience you've had at Starlight so far?
My most amazing experience has been bringing the IT Fund for Kids, a unique dinner experience for the IT industry, to Melbourne for the first time. Everyone came together, including Starlight ambassadors, supporters, volunteers and the Starlight team, making the event a great success which directly benefited the children. It was a truly amazing and inspirational evening.
