Leave a legacy for the children

By leaving a gift in your Will, you can help the Starlight Children's Foundation to continue its valuable programs across Australia. Your support can ensure that Starlight provides a healing environment for many more seriously ill and hospitalised children, and their families, now and in the future.

What is a bequest?

Bequests and legacies are particular items or sums of money given as gifts upon the death of a generous donor. After providing for your family and friends and once all debts and expenses are paid out, you may choose to leave a bequest to Starlight.

Including a bequest in your Will now has no impact on your lifestyle today and is the ultimate commitment of care for seriously ill children.

Types of bequests

There are various forms of bequest you might consider, including:

  • The residue of your estate (after specific gifts and costs have been distributed)
  • A percentage of the residue
  • A specific amount of money
  • Specific items

You can view the suggested wording for a Starlight bequest here.

Further information

Our booklet Leave A Smile Behind provides information on the many things to keep in mind when preparing a Will and how to leave a gift to Starlight.  We recommend that you speak to a qualified solicitor or legal practitioner to ensure the validity of your Will, especially if your circumstances have changed recently.

If you are considering a Bequest, you can also email Starlight Bequests or call 1300 727 827.

“A hundred years from now it won’t matter what my bank balance was, the sort of home I lived in or the car I drove, but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child."
