Six-year old Avelynn was first admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at nine weeks for heart surgery and has spent a lot of time in and out of hospitals since. Some of her conditions include a hole in her heart, high blood pressure in her lungs, undiagnosed liver disease, and she also had a stroke as a result of the surgery at nine weeks, leaving her with a weakness in her left side.
Avelynn is a bright and gorgeous little girl who first met Captain Starlight in the hospital Starlight Express Room as it gives her much needed distraction from the pain and treatments. Starlight has brought laughter and fun into her life and when she was granted a Starlight Wish it brought happiness to the entire family.
Avelynn wished for a fantastic playground to be built in her backyard, and Starlight arranged a fort, sandpit, swing set, trampoline and monkey bars to be installed, making it better than she could have ever imagined…
