Exploring seriously ill children's needs
At Starlight, we need to stay connected with seriously ill children in order to keep our programs innovative and relevant.
Starlight is conducting an exciting new project called the Needs Analysis Project, enabling us to explore the needs of seriously ill children and their families.
Consultation has been crucial and over a number of months Starlight met with more than 240 families, health professionals and experts to find out more about their needs and the role that Starlight needs to play.

Regional, rural and remote communities
Many families from the outback that have chronically ill children will have experienced Starlight's magic when they visit metropolitan hospitals or when Captain Starlight has visited their local area. But we need to be more available more often.
To help meet this need Starlight is developing regional models of our programs.
Starlight already has two full-time Captain Starlights based in the Northern Territory. To meet the needs of these children, the Captains promote basic health messages through fun and interactive shows. Starlight will continue to consult the indigenous community and develop program models for the Northern Territory.
Thank you to the Macquarie Bank Foundation for their funding support that has allowed this important analysis of regional needs and the development of our new regional models.
