Reaching out to young people
Vital in reaching Starlight’s goal for 2010 to reach all seriously ill and hospitalised kids are two new adolescent programs, Livewire and Club Ado. These programs are helping Starlight reach and support critically unwell teens up to 18 years.
An online community for teens
Livewire, the first of its kind, is one of the largest and most significant programs Starlight's launched. It provides an online community connecting 10 to 18 year olds living with serious illness or disability, to help reduce the isolation and loneliness often experienced.
A medical-free hang out
Club Ado in Perth’s Princess Margaret Hospital is an entertainment haven specifically designed for teenagers, where they can hang out and escape the boredom and stress of hospitalised life. Teens leave ward life when they step into Club Ado’s fantastic interactive rooms.
“You guys at Starlight are like family when there is nobody else visiting.”
