Starlight Express Room to open in South Australia

Captain Starlight is busy putting the final touches to South Australia’s first ever Starlight Express Room (SER) at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, with the $1 million project just weeks away from completion.

More than four years in the making, the Starlight Express Room will give Captain Starlight a South Australian home and offer seriously ill children and their families a medical-free haven where they can escape the pressures of illness and the austerity of hospital life.

The Women’s and Children’s Hospital is the last major paediatric hospital in Australia to have an SER, and it has set a new benchmark for Starlight Express Rooms around the country.

The Starlight Express Room will officially open on 5th April 2011.  The goal is to be open 7 days a week, however, this is dependent on the ongoing support of donors.  It costs $500,000 per year to keep the room fully operational so please give generously and donate today.
