Stories from superstar volunteers
Starlight Day volunteers are integral in making Starlight Day a huge success every year. Through their dedication and smiles, they’ve created many Starlight moments and memories, just like the passionate students from Nudgee College.
Nudgee College pulls on the Starlight colours
Each year, 30 boys from Nudgee College gave their time to the Starlight Children's Foundation for Star Day. Last year, the boys and their teachers arrived in the CBD after school had finished and donned bright yellow Starlight volunteer t-shirts before heading to their allotted corners in the heart of corporate Brisbane. They rattled the collection tins, sold merchandise, and spread the Starlight cheer, raising $2,400.
Nudgee College continues to encourage their students to be involved in hands-on charity ventures, and this keeps bringing smiles to Starlight children, right when they need it most.
"For me, Starlight Day is about the individual stories that people tell about how they knew someone who had been helped by Starlight. Also little children being encouraged by their parents to give some money from their piggy bank - that was very touching."

"The Starlight Express Room and the Captain Starlight gave me and my kids a break from four months continuous hospital stay last year… I loved the fact that I was giving some of my time back to the Starlight Children’s Foundation."

"It's a great experience being able to meet new people and know you're helping the kids."
