You helped create life changing happiness for Henry

As a tiny baby, Henry was diagnosed with a rare condition resulting in profound deafness. Despite ongoing medical tests, he was a happy smiley, boy. 

At seven months Henry was diagnosed with Atypical Haemolytic Uremic Syndrome - a rare, life-threatening disease for which there is currently no known cure. 

Henry’s mum Melissa had to ask doctors the question no parent ever wants to ask. “How long will my little boy live?” 

Since his diagnosis, Henry has to spend a lot of time in hospital. He’s often stuck in his ward and misses his big brother Lachlan terribly. 

Amid so much pain and anguish, your support has helped create moments of happiness the family cherish. 

After surgery for a cochlear implant, Captain Starlight gave Henry his first ever musical experience with a special song made just for him. 

They also communicate with Henry using sign language and his mum said Henry’s face beams as soon as he sees Captain Starlight pop around the corner of his hospital door. 

“It makes my heart happy to see Henry have a smile on his face. Without Starlight, that would not be possible,” Melissa said. 

Henry will need ongoing infusions to manage his condition throughout his life and Melissa is thankful to Starlight supporters. 

“It really helps to know that Starlight is there to help walk Henry through his hard days by giving him that little bit of fun and happiness he needs. An enormous thank you for your support.” 

You helped create an Amazing Interaction (AI!)

Thanks to your support, Starlight’s collaboration with Andromeda Robotics brought Abi, a remarkable (and super friendly!) AI companion, to the Starlight Express Room. Through fun, interactive experiences, Abi helped Eleanor and Annika connect in hospital over shared challenges and triumphs.  

Together, they solved riddles, rebuilt Abi's memory and became honorary Captain Starlights! The unstoppable duo showed incredible teamwork and resilience! Your support makes a positive difference in the lives of seriously ill children like Eleanor and Annika, creating lasting happy memories and important social connections.
