Jim and Lisa were shattered when their baby Sam was diagnosed with eye cancer at just twelve weeks old.
But thanks to your generosity, Sam and his family soon began an incredible lifelong connection with Starlight.
From the time the family discovered the Starlight Express Room recalls Lisa, “That was it... It was just an amazing escape from reality”.
Before he permanently lost his sight, Sam’s last request was to visit the Starlight Express Room and have his whole family sing and dance with the Captains.
With thanks to incredible supporters like you, Captain Starlight continued to create much-needed moments of happiness as Sam learned to live with his blindness.
Now twenty, and an aspiring radio host, Sam reflects fondly on his lifetime of memories with Starlight.
As an avid train enthusiast, Sam’s Starlight Wish was to travel with his family through the heart of Australia on the legendary Ghan.
Sam says “I never thought I would get to experience that, but with Starlight, anything is possible!”
