We celebrated NAIDOC Week in all our Starlight Express Rooms with inspiring guests, stories, music, murals, arts and crafts bringing kids and families together to embrace the 2020 theme - Always Was, Always Will Be. There was even a daily word game helping kids learn about Indigenous language.
Livewire shines light on teens' creativity
Looking at these artworks - teens in the Sydney Children's Hospital are a talented bunch. The teens participated in weekly art workshops to produce their own creative masterpieces. Livewire workshops are an opportunity for creative expression and give teens in hospital a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Mood-boosting garden revealed
Flowers are blooming at Sydney Children's Hospital thanks to a collaboration with The Mental Health Unit team to transform the hospital garden into a more positive environment. It's a garden that keeps on giving with dried flowers inspiring creativity and featuring in kids and teens' artworks and stories.
Captain Starlight goes back to school
Who wouldn't want to go to hospital school when Captain Starlight Is in the classroom? At John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, Captain Starlight's "School Arvo" lessons saw the kids work together to create a Harry Potter Diagon Alley diorama complete with mini figurines and shop front windows.
