Just because you’re sick doesn’t mean you stop you being a child, and it shouldn’t mean missing out on all the fun and happiness of childhood either. 

At Starlight, we know happiness helps sick kids feel more positive about hospital and treatment. It helps them cope with the pain and stress of serious illness, and bounce back more easily from tough times.  

That’s why we're here to create the fun, joy and laughter that helps sick kids, simply be ‘kids’! 

Where can you find Captain Starlight in hospital

There’s a few places to catch up with Captain Starlight if you need to visit hospital. 

Starlight Express Room  

Our Starlight Express Rooms can be found at every children’s hospital in Australia.  

They are medical-free havens for sick kids and their families seeking a break from the relentless cycle of medical treatments and procedures. There’s no doctors here, instead the Starlight Express Room is where we get down to the serious business of having fun!

Captain Starlight’s Rocket Rounds 

Several times a day Captain Starlight heads out into the wards on their Rocket Rounds, bringing fun and laughter to kids not well enough to visit the Starlight Express Room. Making sure no-one misses out on a healthy dose of happiness, Captain Starlight can deliver activity packs, sing songs and play games sure to bring much needed cheer to those unable to leave the ward. 

You may also catch Captain Starlight wandering the halls, and visiting outpatient clinics, ready to bring smiles and giggles to anyone they meet along the way. 

Starlight TV 

Starlight TV brings all day fun to sick kids in hospital! 

Delivering the fun of Captain Starlight directly into the rooms of sick kids in hospital, Starlight TV is broadcast live every day in every children's hospital around Australia. 

The daily interactive shows enable kids to participate in quizzes and games, and request their favouite songs and movies, right from their hospital bed.  

There's fun new content all the time helping to keep kids entertained and distracted from the world of hospital and treatment.

Livewire in Hospital 

Livewire supports young people aged 12-25 living with serious illness, disability or chronic health conditions. Through creative workshops and opportunities to connect with peers, Livewire is there to provide positive distraction and support the mental health and wellbeing of young people experiencing hospitalisation.  

Livewire online

Livewire Online is a safe, supportive community that's just for teenagers living with illness or disability. It's there for teens 24/7 across Australia and New Zealand.

Whether you’re home or in hospital, you can make friends, share stories, laugh, have a vent, and be yourself. Our moderated chat is live 12pm-12am every day, plus live streaming, games, videos, comps and more!
