Give the gift of happiness for sick kids like Elijah

Six-year-old Elijah is his Grandpa Graham’s best little mate. Living next door to each other, they’ve always shared a love of cricket and spend hours working together on their fantasy cricket team. Devastatingly all of that was sidelined when Elijah was diagnosed with Leukaemia.

“I said, ‘Does my little boy have cancer?’ and the nurse just put her hand on my shoulder and said, ‘I’m so sorry’. That was probably the hardest day of my life.” — Elijah’s dad, Eden.

Admitted to hospital immediately, suddenly Elijah’s world was consumed by surgery, needles, and chemotherapy.  

His only escape was video calls with Grandpa Graham when they’d chat about all things cricket especially Elijah’s favourite team, the Adelaide Strikers.

After months of painful treatment, Elijah learned he was to be granted a special Starlight Wish. Immediately, he exclaimed, “I want to see Tahlia McGrath play with the Adelaide Strikers!”.

Thanks to our supporters Elijah’s Wish came true, the whole family, including Grandpa Graham, flew to Sydney for a Strikers match.

Walking onto the field as the team's special guest, Elijah's grin could have lit up the whole stadium. Meeting Tahlia McGrath in person was like stepping into his cricket dreams!
