Meet Henry
Hospital has consumed Henry's life since he was diagnosed with Stage 5 Nephroblastoma - an aggressive form of kidney cancer.
He began 12 weeks of chemotherapy, followed by a nine-hour surgery to remove tumours and parts of his kidneys. Then came three weeks of daily radiotherapy under general anaesthetic, and 34 more weeks of gruelling chemotherapy. Nausea, fatigue and pain became part of everyday life.
But amid the fear and exhaustion there was a spark of joy,
Starlight was there.
In the middle of hospital corridors and treatment rooms, Starlight brough laughter, colour and play. For Henry, the Starlight Express Room became a sanctuary - a place where he could just be a kid again.
Starlight has been an absolute game-changer for Henry and our family. From the moment we arrive at hospital, Henry asks, "Can we go see Captain Starlight?" That says it all.
