Cancer shattered Zai’s world
At just seven years old, Zai was rushed to hospital where doctors delivered the words no parent is ever prepared to hear: “Your child has cancer.”
Zai was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma. The cancer had spread throughout his entire body.
He endured an eight-hour surgery followed by 15 months of gruelling treatment, chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant, radiation, immunotherapy and more, leaving him exhausted, sick, and missing the simple joy of being a kid.
Amid the fear, pain and long days in hospital, Captain Starlight was there, bringing smiles, laughter and moments of happiness when Zai needed them most.
