Campaign Purpose
This matched giving initiative forms part of Starlight’s Tax Appeal and raises funds to support Starlight’s in‑hospital programs for seriously ill children and their families.
Matching Amount and Source
Matching funds have been secured in writing for this campaign from generous Starlight donors who have chosen to remain anonymous.
The total matching pool is capped at $154,000.
Matching Ratio
Eligible donations will be matched dollar‑for‑dollar (1:1) until the matching pool of $154,000 has been fully exhausted.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible donations must be made by individuals or organisations directly via starlight.org.au.
Donations made via Facebook, Instagram, or third‑party fundraising platforms are not eligible for matching.
Campaign Timing
Start: 10:00am AET, Thursday 25 June 2026
End: 11:59pm AET, Tuesday 30 June 2026, or earlier if the $154,000 matching pool is fully exhausted.
Multiple Matches
Donors may have multiple donations matched if they make more than one eligible donation during the match period, subject to the remaining availability of matching funds.
Use of Funds
All funds raised, including matched donations, will be used to support Starlight’s programs.
Handling of Excess Donations
Once the matching pool has been exhausted, donations will continue to support Starlight’s programs but will no longer be matched.
Updates on the status of matching funds will be published at: https://www.starlight.org.au/donate/tax-appeal/
Donor Consent
The matching donor(s) have provided written consent for their contributions to be used in this matched giving campaign and have requested to remain anonymous. Tax deductibility: When you make a donation to Starlight through this matched giving campaign, your original donation is eligible to be tax deductible*, in line with Australian tax law, because Starlight is a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR).
If your donation is matched, the matched amount is an additional gift made by the matching donor, not by you.
This means:
You can claim a tax deduction for the amount you personally donate
You cannot claim a tax deduction for the matched amount
The matching donor can claim a tax deduction for their matched contribution
Both gifts still have impact, they just follow different tax rules.
You will receive a receipt for your donation amount only, which you can use when lodging your tax return.
