Book week fun for everyone in the Starlight Express Room!
Being in hospital shouldn’t mean missing out on the fun that happens at school.
For Book Week, the Starlight Express Room at the Royal Children’s Hospital went all out to run their very own book week parade!
Captain Starlight worked with hospital staff to ensure everyone was included.
Chloe dressed up as not just one, but FOUR Harry Potter characters!!
Novalie arrived as Wonder Woman. After waving her ‘lasso of truth’ at Captain Starlight — they were unable to tell any lies for the entire day!

Starlight families have a ball at our first ever winter Wish Week!
For many families, Starlight’s winter Wish Week was their very first trip to the snow!
From an overnight stay at the incredible Jamala Wildlife Lodge, to exclusive fun-filled time on the slopes, it was a week filled with magic and wonder.
“It was such a special and amazing experience…it’s been a great bonding session for our family” said one Wish Week mum.
Thank you for giving families something amazing to look forward to, and special memories to recall when times are tough.
Taleisa finds her tribe with Livewire!
Sixteen-year-old Taleisa suffers from a range of complex health conditions.
Because of this, her love of dance is on hold, and she ’s struggled to keep up with friends. Missing out made Taleisa anxious and depressed.
But thanks to you, Taleisa has a smile back on her face! Through Livewire, she’s connected with teens just like her, and has found an outlet for her creativity.
Taleisa says, “Livewire had a huge impact on me…It’s amazing to talk to people who understand how I’m feeling. It’s the best thing ever!!”.

In 2022, Captain Starlight visited Waiben, Thursday Island.
Captain Starlight was shown where the local kids had caught “the biggest Groper EVER”, and everyone had a blast cooking up some imaginary “Groper soup” as they waited for their appointments!
Captain Starlight also waged a hilarious battle with a snake — which was definitely NOT a stethoscope — to show a nervous boy his procedure wasn’t so scary after all!
Positive experiences like these lead to increased healthcare participation by helping families feel happy and relaxed about health checks.
