Welcome to the most fun place to play in hospital!

The Starlight Express Room is where kids and families get down to the serious business of having fun in hospital!

Starlight Express Rooms are bright, safe, welcoming places kids and families can be together and take a break from the relentless cycle of medical treatment.

Whilst doctors treat a child's illness Captain Starlight (with the support of our awesome volunteers) provide the fun, play and creativity that boosts sick kids' health and wellbeing.

Starlight Express Rooms are filled with music, the latest video consoles, paints, arts and crafts. Kids can play games, watch a movie or have their face painted - the choice is theirs!

And with different themes each week, there’s always something new to keep kids entertained and distracted from the reality of hospital and treatment.

At night, the Starlight Express Room transforms into a teen space, where young people can join in creative workshops with our Livewire team.

Happiness delivered to hospital wards

Kids who are too sick to leave their hospital bed can still interact with all the fun of the Starlight Express Room through Starlight TV.

Captain Starlight also visits kids on the wards and in out-patient departments bringing the fun and laughter to kids throughout the hospital.

We need to keep the doors of our Starlight Express Rooms open 7 days a week, 365 days a year so we can be there when sick kids and their families need us most.
