Party Day in Sydney Children's Hospital
After a year of continued uncertainty and isolation for hospital patients, their families, and staff, it was crucial that the annual festival celebration in Sydney Children's Hospital, known as 'Party Day,' was a success.
The theme in the hospital was Toy Store, and Captain Starlight chose Super Nintendo World!
Captain Starlight and Livewire delivered 200 party bags featuring donated goods from Disney, Hasbro, EB games, Lego and Toyland and party food to over 500 kids, families and staff!
The fun continued all day on Starlight TV and via Zoom, where Captain Starlight hosted real life Mario Kart races, Clown Doctor silliness, soothing Sydney Symphony musical performances, The Starlight masked singer, DJ Daisy's virtual disco with roving cameras in the hospital, a tour of Legoland including a Lego build challenge, a Kahoot quiz, movie premiere and multiple challenges and competition winners.
"Thank you, we've had the best day ever!" said one mother and her daughter as they farewelled the captains and the Super Nintendo World hallway.
Halloween in Perth Children's Hospital
Families were treated to a fun Halloween party in Perth's Starlight Express Room. The room was alive with laughter during a very competitive pass the parcel session, there were some impressive dance moves, fabulous arm painting creations and of course pumpkin carving.
It was lovely to see so many parents who had never met before, connecting, laughing and enjoying seeing their children smiling after what has been for many, a lengthy period of hospitalisation.
