Our Starlight Express Rooms are medical-free havens in every major children's hospital in Australia.
Starlight Express Room Volunteers support Captain Starlight, ensuring visitors to the room have the best possible experience. You'll help set activities up, welcome families and engage the kids with fun things to do. There's art, craft, games, dancing, movies, quizzes, general silliness – bringing happiness to sick kids is so much fun!
You can also help grant Starlight Wishes. Each Wish is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a seriously ill child or young person, and is made up of different tasks. Starlight Express Room Volunteers can choose to help with tasks that suit. You might find yourself brainstorming a Wish choice with a family, sourcing discounted items or helping a family navigate the airport. Wishgranting Tasks are on a flexible, ad hoc basis.
This is a regular commitment with at least two shifts in the Starlight Express Room each month. That way, you'll quickly feel part of the team and make even more of an impact.
