Mike Hussey is one of Australia's most admired and popular former cricket players.
He made his mark on the international cricket scene after winning the One Day International Player of the Year at the 2006 Alan Border Medal and One Day International Player of the Year at the ICC Awards that same year.
Mike has generously supported Starlight over many years as a Starlight Ambassador helping to bring happiness to sick kids and their families.
He has donated signed cricket memorabilia and VIP tickets as auction prizes at Starlight Five Chefs Dinners and given his time to young fans through cricket clinics and personal coaching sessions.
Mike has fundraised for Starlight through events including the Great Adventure Challenge and has regularly supported Starlight by speaking at corporate partner events and our CEO Breakfast Series.
Mike helped launch the brand-new Starlight Express Room at the Perth Children's Hospital in 2018 and said, "The Starlight Express Room is such a fantastic place for the sick kids of WA to enjoy and take a break from hospital."
He has become a familiar face in the Starlight Express Room spending time chatting and playing games with kids and their families. He is always up for a game of Mario Kart and happily signs autographs for fans young and young-at-heart!

ABOUT: Admired and respected for his dedicated approach to the game, Mike made his first-class cricket debut age 19 in 1994, playing for Western Australia. He went on to play for the Australian Test team in the 2005 /06 series against the West Indies. Within his first five Test matches, Mike made three centuries. He was the top-ranked batsman in the world in 2006 and was the Australian Captain on four occasions. He scored 6,183 Test runs in his career and retired from the game in 2013. He was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame in 2023.
