Junior Adventures Group GO BIG for sick kids

Junior Adventures Group are a national out-of-school hours care organisation. Their priority is the holistic wellbeing of the children they care for. Their purpose is to ‘help build brighter futures for our children’ which is a perfect match for Starlight’s mission to ‘help brighten the lives of sick kids’. In line with their business philosophy and core values, JAG wants to make a real difference to the lives of children, especially those in need. Starlight Children’s Foundation was the perfect charity to work with.

JAG care for over 90 thousand children daily, helping over 50 thousand families. Most of the JAG team know children who struggle with long term or terminal illness, so they understand the value of ‘positive wellness’. When you work with children, you see the power of positivity in action. In those moments, it’s impossible to deny the impact happiness can have to a child’s wellbeing.

The JAG team approached Starlight wanting to fundraise in a way that will engage their entire network — the children they care for, their carers and the JAG office team members. The Starlight GO BIG Challenge was the perfect answer. The GO BIG Challenge is a fun, positive and active way for individuals, groups and organisations to raise much needed funds for Starlight. Challengers ‘go big’ by walking, running or rolling as far as they can in the month of November. With every kilometre, you bring happiness to sick kids all around Australia (and yourself too!)

Starlight set up the fundraising platform for JAG which helped teams show off their fundraising and a kilometre tally on their social networks. And the results were sensational, with JAG raising over $65,000 in one month, helping 1,666 sick kids in hospital.

Captain Starlight kicked off the Challenge with a virtual welcome to the 90 participating NSW schools. The fun continued with a specially designed program to keep kids engaged with the GO BIG Challenge. They even held a Captain Starlight dress-up contest, with head office dollar matching donations to boost fundraising.

"This was a project that was fun, different and engaging for our children and staff but much more than that, it meant something to each one of us. Learning about specific children that have been touched by Starlight and knowing that we have contributed in some way to making things a little easier and a little brighter for them has made the world of difference to all of us." — Gabrielle Adams, Regional Operations Manager - NSW
