Evie's Hero image

You helped bring more Monkey Business FUN to Evie’s time in hospital

One minute eight-year-old Evie was happily playing and patting dogs.

The next, she’s in hospital having urgent surgery after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Following her surgery, Evie lost the ability to talk and move and was diagnosed with Posterior Fossa Syndrome.

She spent nearly a year in hospital having cancer and rehab treatments which left her exhausted and in pain.

But during her toughest days, your support meant Captain Starlight was there helping to bring back Evie’s smile.

Evie loved setting fun challenges for the Captains like pretending to be monkeys for the day!

She also loved the Starlight Express Room playing with puppets and having her nails painted with glitter!

“Hospital would have been very difficult without the fun of Starlight — it brightens their days and helps them just be kids again,” Evie’s mum Angela said.

Your support created more smiles when Evie was granted her Starlight Wish for an adorable puppy called Rex.

“It’s so important for kids to be able to laugh and smile and that’s exactly what Starlight does,” Angela said.
