Volunteers are part of Starlight's DNA, in fact, we started as a volunteer organisation over 30 years ago. Our mission is to brighten the lives of sick kids and we couldn’t do this without our incredible volunteers.

Volunteer at Perth Children's Hospital

Hospital can be a scary, lonely place for children. Until they discover the Starlight Express Room! Starlight brings fun, joy and laughter to sick kids in the Starlight Express Rooms at Perth Children's Hospital and our volunteers play a vital role making that happen.

As a Starlight Express Room Volunteer, you can unleash your inner child and do all kinds of fun activities! Jump right in with video games, creative art and craft, music, dancing, cooking and much more.

We also have our Livewire program for teenagers living with a serious illness or disability. Livewire Volunteers work with teens, helping to deliver creative workshops in Perth Children's Hospital such as art, photography, animation, coding and music. Livewire Volunteers help teens who are often isolated by their illness to develop new skills and make new friends. Livewire Volunteers in Perth are especially close to our hearts as the Livewire program began in Perth, back in 2009!

Join the team as a Livewire or Starlight Express Room Volunteer and you'll be able to help grant once-in-a-lifetime Starlight Wishes. A Starlight Wish is an opportunity for a sick child’s dream to come true giving them something positive to focus on during the toughest times. Our incredible volunteers help with Wishes in Perth and across Western Australia. You could find yourself working on a bedroom makeover, delivering an adorable puppy or helping a family navigate Perth airport before their first-ever holiday!

Office and event volunteer opportunities in Perth

Are you after office volunteer work? Our Perth office team are often on the lookout for volunteers with a range of administrative, data, business, digital, creative or marketing skills!

We also have volunteer roles at various events throughout Perth. Our Events Volunteers help out at fun runs, black tie events, footy games, Christmas carols... you name it! This is our most flexible volunteering role.

Some volunteer roles require a regular commitment, while working around your schedule. Others, like volunteering for events, are perfect if you need more flexibility.

We're committed to providing an environment that's caring, nurturing and safe for children so all volunteers will undertake a Working with Children Check and a National Police Check.
