At Starlight Children’s Foundation, we can only achieve our mission of brightening the lives of sick kids thanks to our incredible volunteers.

Whether it’s through our hospital programs, community events or at our Sydney office, volunteers make a lasting difference in the lives of sick children. Volunteer work is a great way to meet new people, make lifelong friends and develop your professional network.

You’ll learn more about yourself, pick up some new skills along the way and enjoy a sense of community and fulfilment. If you’re looking for volunteer jobs in Sydney, Starlight has some amazingly rewarding opportunities!

Volunteer in a Sydney children's hospital

Hospital can be a scary, lonely place for kids. Until they discover the Starlight Express Room. Every day Starlight brings fun, joy and laughter to sick kids in Starlight Express Rooms at Sydney’s children’s hospitals in Randwick and Westmead. As a Starlight Express Room volunteer, you’ll tap into your inner child and play video games, get creative with arts and crafts, cooking, games, music and more.

Our Livewire program helps teenagers living with serious illness or disability. Livewire Volunteers help us deliver thousands of creative workshops for teens in Sydney’s children’s hospital every year. Workshops include music, art, photography, animation and coding and help teens who are often isolated by their illness, to develop new skills and make new friends.

Volunteer with children in Sydney

The Livewire Online community is a fun, safe space helping teenagers connect with others who understand what they’re going through. As a Sydney Livewire volunteer, you can help facilitate positive on-line experiences as a chat host or help develop new and engaging content for teens.

Starlight Wish is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a sick child to have their dream come true. As a wish granting volunteer, you’ll help create and deliver life-changing wishes all across Sydney that help get kids through the toughest times. Wishes might include a bedroom make-over, a first-ever holiday, attending a music concert or meeting a sporting idol.
